About our Pastor
The Reverend Nancy Hoerner graduated from Yale Divinity School, was ordained in June of 2012, and began her ministry at Allwood Community Church soon after. During her years of study, Pastor Nancy got to know the congregation through supply preaching and participating in special events.
As part-time pastor at Allwood, Pastor Nancy is also part-time chaplain at Crane’s Mill Continuing Care Retirement Community. She provides pastoral care to residents of independent and assisted living, skilled nursing, and the memory support unit.
Her first career is graphic design; the last 16 in museum exhibit design. Graphic design requires communicating in the clearest and most beautiful way possible. In ministry, she seeks to apply the skills and creativity of her first career to communicating the ways God’s presence and transforming love are revealed – clearly and in the most beautiful way possible.
Community is central to her understanding of Christian faith. Christian community should be a place of welcome, inclusion, refuge, and care. No member of the body is more important than another; and if one suffers, we all suffer. Church is also a place where we are reminded that God calls us all into ministry with God’s people.
